Friends and colleagues of Yahya Ould Hamidoune established this prize in his memory to continue his commitment to education and research in mathematics and computer science in Mauritania.

Processus

How the Prize is awarded

Preselection of applications (if needed) based on academic merit

Preparation of written selection exams (in French)

Correction of the written exams

Final selection based on exam performance and, if necessary, the academic record

Two tracks, two awards

Secondary level

An award dedicated to secondary-level mathematics.

University level

An award dedicated to university-level mathematics.

Award amounts and the number of prizes may vary each year depending on available funding. Up to three prizes per track (1st, 2nd, 3rd).

Éligibilité

Eligibility

Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

No nationality requirement is imposed.

Secondary level

Hold a scientific baccalaureate
Be enrolled in the first year of higher education in Mauritania
Be no older than 23 as of December 31, 2026

University level

Be enrolled in the 3rd year of a Bachelor’s degree, Master I, or Master II in a math-oriented field
OR be a preparatory classes graduate enrolled in the 3rd year of an engineering program in Mauritania
Be no older than 30 as of December 31, 2026
